Other models add mV, conductivity, TDS, salinity or temperature, so one unit can handle titrations, effluent monitoring or food-sample checks.
How a pH meter works
A pH meter reports how acidic or alkaline a solution is by sensing hydrogen-ion activity, and most units show mV and temperature alongside it. These instruments sit in the Analytical Lab Instrument group next to conductivity meters and dissolved oxygen meters, and they are used wherever a numeric pH reading is needed rather than an indicator colour.

The JA-PM-2185 waterproof tester covers pH, conductivity, TDS, salinity and temperature in one unit. Where conductivity and temperature are enough, the JA-PM-2180 bench meter handles those three.
What does automatic buffer recognition on the JA-PM-2178 do?
It identifies 4.00, 7.00 and 9.2 pH buffers without being told which is in the beaker, then runs a 2- or 3-point calibration from them. Results show on a bright red 7-segment LED display.
